The Irish Times writes an interesting article where it discusses the challenges SMEs face when trying to acquire talent while competing with giant global companies. Ordorite Software’s CEO Stephen Connolly says “it’s challenging” and “It’s a competitive space. You have to build your profile and maximise publicity to help you punch above your weight,” emphasising that competing with deep-pocketed rivals was hard.
Acquiring the talent will always be a challenge, especially when bigger brands are out looking for talent also. A survey was carried out by the Small Firms Association and identified labour market shortages as the biggest challenge, but the incentive to work for small companies needs to be increased.
